Now that Emilia has embraced the taste and texture of rice ceral and oatmeal, we have begun to explore what food options to offer her next. We have decided to make Emilia's baby food at home. We did a little online research - what are good first food options, how to prepare it, etc. So, we headed to Super Target to pick out our produce and and then back home to our cucina to cook and puree it before putting it into ice cube trays and freezing it handy little portions, ready to thaw and serve at meal times :)
Buon Appetito!
Tonight, we prepared butternut squash, carrots and bananas. It's amazing how quick and easy it is and how many perfect little portioned cubes you can get out of each fruit and veggie. We're definetly going to keep it up! Oh - and the butternut squash was a hit! It's the perfect little winter veggie - warm and delicious, just the the perfect texture and consistencey and a nice balanced flavor.
