Landscape Extravaganza!

This weekend was the much anticipated Landscape Extravaganza! We have been wanting to get a plan together and make something happen in our yard for as long as I can remember. Thanks to our parents, we had the expertise and man power to accomplish AMAZING things!

When I got home on Friday, the landscape beds had been laid by my darling dearest, a lilac bush had been cut down and a HUGE pile of black dirt had been delivered and covered by an equally HUGE blue tarp. I sat in the car with Emilia for a solid 5 minutes just staring and saying"Holy Moly"repeatedly until she started imitating me by saying, "Holy Moly" and then giggling.

Bright and early Saturday morning, we headed out with Pam to purchase the goods and then headed home to start digging in! There were projects happening all over the place. Out with the old and in with the new. Love it!

Emilia was, of course, thrilled with the rocks that she was able to collect over the course of the project. She also really enjoyed wearing her boots and stomping through the dirt. I have never seen her face dirtier and it was great. It was so fun to watch her observe you, kneeling and planting and then look over and see her position herself on her knees to imitate you. She's always watching; always learning...and so are we.

I'm going to make sure to do my research on how to care for all of these fabulous shrubs and perennials. And in the meantime, we'll keep enjoying all the smiles and thumbs ups from the neighborhood passer-bys who seem to be enjoying our new landscape as much as we are!

Next up - grow grass grow and building a fence! Woo hoo!
