Emilia has become such a great little helper. She loves to watch what we're doing and "help" by imitating what we are doing. If we're outside raking leaves...she helps by picking up handfuls of leaves and throwing them in the bag.
If we're cleaning the house...she grabs a towel and wipes right along with us.
If we're in the kitchen, she exclaims, "bang, bang!" indicating that she would like to have a spoon and a bowl to help mix up a little creation of her own.
She understands SO MUCH of what we say...it's really amazing to see in action. We have fun testing it out by asking her to do her favorite thing...help :)
We ask her to put dirty clothes in the hamperand over she marches
to throw the clothes in. She just needs to teach Daddy this trick :)
We ask her to go get her baby or her tooth brush or her cup and when
she returns, she's got our request in hand!
With the realization of how much she understands, we also realize how easily frusterated she can become if we don't know what she is asking for. Luckily - we are pretty in tune to her words and we make it a point to repeat the words / requests she makes to let her know we understand her. This brings her great joy and an exclaimed, "yeah!" when we get it right. Her list of words is just amazing as well! She loves to repeat the words we ask her to say. It's our challenge to keep up with her and offer new opportunities to learn and expand her vocabulary. Only 17 months old and already teaching us so much! We love it!
