About 7 months ago, we sent in a picture of Emilia to a modeling agency who works a lot with Target. I know of a couple friends of friends with kids that have done shoots for Target and the whole experience sounded so exciting - especially seeing your little babe in a Target ad :) We got a call inviting Emilia to an open audition for the Target Baby Registry. They told us what the days and time slots of the open audition would be and asked what would work for us. We signed up for a Thursday afternoon slot.I left work a little early and picked up my little model from daycare. We headed downtown to the where the open audition was taking place. There were instructions posted of what to do when we got there...
- Fill out an information sheet.
- Undress your baby down to a diaper and wait for your number to be called.
We were number 273... WOW! That's a lot of cute babies to choose from.
We got undressed and played with our toys while we observed the other parents and children around us. Before we knew it, they came out and said they were ready for Emilia!
We went behind the screen and they had Emilia sit on a little "x" as they prepared to snap their pictures. The photographer was right on the floor at Emilia's level with his camera snapping away as the other man tickled her feet with a feather duster :) She gave them some smiles and that was it. About 10 pictures later they said, "That's it. Thanks, she was easy."
We, of course, think Emilia is the "cutest baby on the block" but we're not going to be too disappointed if we don't get "called back" for the actual photo shoot :) It was a fun, unique experience and I'm glad we did it.
After our open audition was done, we visited Daddy at his office where Emilia checked out the fish tank, had a few sips of water and ran around, loving all the open space! Before we headed back to the car, we took a peak into the Cradle Club Childcare Center windows to see if we could spot one of Emilia's little friends, Redford. No Redford sightings, but we did get to see lots of other babies!
We had swim lessons that night and a little time to burn before they started, so I thought we'd "go out for ice cream" in honor of Emilia's big adventure! We strolled into McDonald's and ordered a baby cone! There was no charge for this tiny, delightful treat :) Emilia enjoyed the whole cone all by herself! Good thing for those handy moist toilettes! After our treat, we were off to swim lessons at the Y. About 7 minutes into the lesson, just after we finished singing about “being so glad Emilia is here today” all the lights went out! It was like a midnight swim at 5:37 pm... We were told to get out of the pool while we waited for the lights to come back on. No such luck. We were escorted into the locker room with a flashlight where we changed into our dry clothes. Emilia was not scared by the odd experience a bit and was probably thankful to just get in the car and head home after a very eventful day!
